Eugene A. Tweedy JR, LPC
Tweedy Mentoring & Counseling Services, LLC is directed by a Licensed Professional Counselor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Mr. Eugene A. Tweedy, Jr. With 20 years of experience providing community-based case management to clients in compliance with the Department of Juvenile Justice, social services agencies, school administration/staff, and other providers of mental health services. Experience has taught him that youth can be successful with the introduction of positive role models and positive intervention opportunities. He completes annual training (CEU’S) to further enhance his skills in working with adult and youth clients. He is certified to provide supervision to candidates seeking to obtain licenser in the Commonwealth of Virginia. He has served on many boards dealing with schools and community related issues. He has volunteered in the community managing recreational activities for the youth and facilitating mental health and substance abuse for adults. He has immense knowledge of community resources and accessibility.
Eugene currently volunteers as a counselor through, conducting groups with the inmates at the Amherst Regional Adult Detention Center offered through the Jail Re-Entry Program, with The Regional Jail Authority, aiming to provide inmates with the necessary skills and mindset to transition successfully back into society. As a Behavioral Health Consultant at Community Access Network, he also specializes in behavioral health interventions and implemented Solution-Focused Therapy techniques while collaborating and consulting with medical, psychiatric, and pharmaceutical providers. Aiming to empower counselors and trainees by offering valuable professional and hands-on experiences that improve their skills.
Since September 2017, Tweedy Mentoring & Counseling Services LLC (TMCS) has been providing Outpatient Counseling and Family Support Services to Parents (fathers) with children in foster care placement. He worked for the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, completing community service, and restitution obligations.
TMCS gives youth a different opportunity to learn and grow, to identify their roles as a member of their family, to become positive peer models, and ultimately to become productive members of society. Youth are informed about the developmental stages through the life cycle and how heredity, environment, and experiences affect individual, group, and familial behavior. From 2007 to 2009, Tweedy Mentoring & Counseling Services (TMCS) joined forces with the City of Lynchburg Commonwealth Attorney’s Office in Lynchburg, VA. Together, our partnership aimed to offer community service opportunities to youth/clients who received sentencing in the Lynchburg Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court
